When I was in the market to get a decent mirrorless camera, I settled on the M6 Mark ii, largely due to it's high resolution sensor. At 32MP, and being APS-C, it didn't matter if my zoom wasn't quite long enough. Just punch in the crop to frame it right, and you've got the shot.
The biggest challenge was the lens itself. It was a damaged 70-200mm I got given for free by a mate who had bought it intending to fix it, but never got around to before switching systems. The autofocus didn't work, so it was shooting manual the entire time. But a broken clock is right twice a day, and with over a thousand photos taken at that single show, I managed to get plenty of shots to be happy with.
